Postpartum experiences can have a significant impact on mental health, yet they are often minimized, misunderstood, or reduced to “just hormones.” Many individuals navigate intense emotional shifts, changes in identity, and a sense of loss of who they once were—while also being expected to feel grateful, happy, and adjusted.

These experiences can bring feelings of overwhelm, isolation, guilt, or disconnection, especially when there is limited space to speak openly about them. For some, it can feel like they are no longer themselves, but aren’t yet sure who they are becoming.

This session explores the emotional, relational, and identity changes that can occur postpartum, how these experiences impact mental health, and how expectations, support systems, and societal narratives can either ease or intensify that transition. Participants will also learn how to respond in ways that feel validating, supportive, and grounded in compassion.

This is a complimentary workshop made possible thanks to funding from the Government of Canada.
