Toronto Community Crisis Service

About The Program

The Toronto Community Crisis Service (TCCS) is a community-led service which dispatches trained teams of crisis workers including mental health, addiction, peer, youth and Indigenous crisis workers in response to people experiencing a crisis. It is a non-police response to crisis calls and wellbeing checks, with transparent and consent-based service, culturally safe supports, and multiple pathways to access crisis and follow-up supports.

Areas served:

  • The northwest area of Toronto – Toronto Police Service Division 12, 23 and 31, which includes the following boundaries:
    • North: Steeles Avenue West
    • East: Canadian National Railway line
    • South: Eglinton Ave. W, along the Humber River to St. Clair Ave. W
    • West: Highway 427

Who's It For

Adults 16+ who are experiencing a crisis or requesting a wellbeing check.

How IT Works

  1. Access TCCS by calling 211 or 911:
Calls for crisis will be triaged and transferred to the TCCS mobile response team based on the call type, location and availability of teams.
  2. TCCS Mobile Crisis Response:
The TCCS mobile crisis team will meet the individual in crisis where they are located. TCCS staff can be identified by their green lanyard and identification card.
  3. Post-Crisis Follow-Up:
The TCCS team provides short-term case management supports for up to six months. These supports may include primary care, addiction care, counselling services, employment and housing navigation, and other individualized and culturally specific supports.
